Christ Church with St Philip celebrates 160 years

Writer's picture: Ash-Kara SealAsh-Kara Seal

Christ Church was consecrated by the 70th Bishop of Chichester on 29th July 1859. This grade 2 listed building was built to serve the needs of a growing town that was expanding due to the arrival of the railway in Eastbourne, 10 years previous.

Pictured from top to bottom (above) are external pictures of the church in the years 1904, 1959, and 2013. It's amazing to see how much has changed and how much has remained the same.

A Big Birthday!

As with any birthday, this called for a special cake. Decorated in a free hand painted picture, in icing, of the church. It took some time to create but it was certainly worth it. It was enjoyed by all in the congregation, and I even caught someone licking the plate! 😁
